Meet the Founder

Sending Sunshine Gifts is more than just a shop, it’s a reflection of my own journey, and I wanted to create something that could give people a little light and let them know that they are not alone.

As a two-time cancer survivor, a widow, and a mother of children with mental health struggles, I truly understand the fragility of life.  I've held the hands of loved ones lost to cancer and suicide. Holding my 5 year old child in my arms as he took his last breath taught me to cherish every moment we are given.

I’m Bridjet, and I put my heart and soul into every gift box I send out because making and sharing these gifts is a source of healing for me.

I understand the power of a thoughtful gesture and the importance of spreading positivity. Sending Sunshine's meaningful gifts are perfect for any occasion, each chosen for its inspiration, hope and sunshine, and designed to be a ray of light.

.

When you shop with us, you're not just buying a gift, you're making a difference in someone's life when they’re feeling afraid, alone, overwhelmed, lost, or hopeless.

Whoever you’re shopping for, whatever the reason, our gifts will bring sunshine to their day.

Sending Sunshine is dedicated to a couple of very special loved ones who will always inspire me.

Rich

My sweet, loving husband and biggest cheerleader always encouraged me to pursue whatever filled my heart with joy.

We had big dreams about our future, living cozily in our happy place in Northern Michigan.

Those dreams were shattered by the diagnosis of lung cancer. We cried, and prayed, and a few weeks later, I found out that I had breast cancer.

We fought our cancers together, but tragically, just 2 1/2 years after the initial diagnosis, I would hear my love’s voice for the very last time as he lifted his arms toward me, smiling, and said “I love my bride.”

As was his nature, Rich worried more about my well-being after he was gone than his impending fate.  Hoping to distract me from his absence by keeping me occupied, he encouraged me to begin sewing.

My first tearful sewing project after he died was turning his beloved t-shirts into memory bears.

After that, I passed time by making and donating things like dresses for girls, chemo caps, and a quilt of valor.

When the pandemic arrived with a PPE shortage, I needed to help. The mask-making adventure kept me busy sewing 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, and donating nearly 30,000 facemasks to our frontline workers.

Rich was on my mind and in my heart, and with me through every stitch.

Aunt Denise

From the earliest moments I can remember, my Aunt Denise was a constant presence, igniting my imagination and nurturing my enduring passion for creation.

As a child, she'd bring home wallpaper sample books, igniting our creativity as we crafted greeting cards, wrapping paper, or any artistic marvels our young hearts could conceive.

She showed me the art of knitting and crochet, all while crafting lovely handmade garments for herself and my cousin, a skill I longed to master one day.

She possessed a gift for selecting the perfect presents, always elegantly wrapped, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts.

In the kitchen, she bestowed sweet treats, love, and cherished memories.

Talented, stylish, and creative, her qualities were abundant.

Kind and generous, she remained a devout warrior of faith, valiantly battling breast cancer for 11 ½ years with unwavering dignity and grace before departing our family too soon.

Her radiant spirit has forever been, and forever will be, a wellspring of inspiration in my life.
